Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Islamabad, has urged against closing schools and institutions, citing control over the security situation in the federal capital.
“At this moment, the circumstances do not warrant you to alter your school or college schedule or interfere with your daily routine,” the Inspector General of Police stated in a video message that was uploaded on the official X handle of the capital police on Monday.
His remarks follow the prolonged closure of three institutions in Islamabad due to security concerns, as sources close to the university administrations told Geo News.
They said that orders for the closure were given by the administrations of National Defence University, Air University, and Bahria University.
Late at night, the administration notified the pupils of the extended closure.
According to the reports, the unexpected closure has also had an impact on university students’ final exams.
In reference to the reports regarding the closure of the universities, IGP Khan said that security and law and order in the nation’s capital are under control.
