Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota fired back at President Donald Trump after he criticized her in a Truth Social post on Monday.
Trump’s Accusations
In his post, Trump claimed, “the DOJ and Congress are looking at ‘Congresswoman’ Ilhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 million dollars. Time will tell all.”
In addition, he referenced Minnesota immigration and welfare issues, stating he was sending Tom Homan to the state to manage enforcement. Trump added that “a major investigation is going on with respect to the massive 20 Billion Dollar, Plus, Welfare Fraud that has taken place in Minnesota, and is at least partially responsible for the violent organized protests going on in the streets.”
Meanwhile, in a separate Truth Social post on January 18, Trump suggested Omar should be jailed or “sent back to Somalia,” calling the country “one of the absolutely worst countries in the World” and claiming she could help “MAKE SOMALIA GREAT AGAIN.”
Omar Fires Back
However, Omar strongly rejected Trump’s claims. She called them “lies and conspiracy theories” and argued that they were attempts to deflect attention from his own failures. “Years of ‘investigations’ have found nothing. Get your goons out of Minnesota,” she wrote on social media.
In addition, Omar has expressed strong opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, stating in a recent post, “ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.”
