ISLAMABAD: In the ongoing Toshakhana case concerning a set of jewelry presented by the Saudi crown prince, imprisoned founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi have submitted separate post-arrest bail requests.
Both of the applications filed through Barrister Salman Safdar under Section 9(b) of the NA Ordinance 1999 and Section 497 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) mention the state and the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as parties to the case. They ask the accountability court to grant post-arrest bail to the couple in the “interest of justice and fair play”
The development occurs when Bushra and Imran are detained in Adiala jail on judicial detention in connection with the Toshakhana reference that the anti-graft agency filed last week.
