ISLAMABAD: According to News, a district and sessions court in Islamabad on Sunday remanded journalist Asad Toor to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for three days in connection with his alleged involvement in a vicious social media campaign against Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
The FIA had urged with the court to grant vlogger Toor’s remand for nine days, but his lawyers opposed the motion.
After hearing the arguments, Duty Magistrate Abbas Shah reserved his decision, which confirmed the FIA’s request and allowed the journalist’s remand for three days.
During his arguments before the court, Toor stated that he would not relinquish his mobile phone or reveal his sources because sources were the most important thing for every journalist.
He informed the court that he was on hunger strike. They gave him food, but he refused to eat anything, he said.
A journalist present in the courtroom persuaded Toor to terminate his hunger strike. The vlogger has been on hunger strike since being detained by the FIA on February 27.
“Toor has not eaten anything in the last 36 hours,” his counsel told the media concerning Toor’s condition on February 29.
