As Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) starts pilot tests before the official debut in the first quarter of 2026, locals may soon see driverless taxis cruising through their neighborhoods.
Testing is already in progress in a few locations, including Jumeirah, according to Khaled Al Awadhi, Director of Transportation Systems at RTA’s Public Transport Agency…. The trials come after agreements with Baidu (Apollo Go), Pony.ai, and WeRide, the world leaders in autonomous vehicles, were reached earlier this year.
By the first quarter of 2026, robotaxi services are anticipated to be available in Dubai. Al Awadhi stated at the Dubai World Congress and Challenge for Self-Driving Transport that it would be commercially accessible to the general public.
