KARACHI: A vehicle and an old record were destroyed as a fire ripped through the Saddar Passport Office’s old offices in Karachi on Sunday.
Chief Fire Officer Abrar Sheikh informed the media, adding that the fire was extinguished with the help of five fire tenders and a snorkel.
Sheikh stated that old items were stored at the impacted premises, and fortunately, no casualties were reported in the event.
Police had reported that the passport office’s godown, which housed outdated paperwork, automobiles, and other stuff, had caught fire.
On December 6, at least three people perished and two were injured after a six-story apartment building in Karachi’s FB Area near Ayesha Manzil — which remains quite busy throughout the day — caught fire. Residents of the building were present inside during the occurrence.
Initially, a shop caught fire due to a short circuit, but the flames spread to other shops in the furniture market located beneath the building. The blaze grew quickly and ultimately burned the entire building, which had 250 shops and 450 flats, causing panic among the residents.
However, the building was totally evacuated within two hours, thanks to the Fire Department’s quick response to the reported blaze.
