RAWALPINDI: In an effort to lessen the nation’s terrorist problem, Pakistan’s security services conducted up to 7,745 anti-terror operations between April 1 and June 10, according to sources who spoke with Geo News on Wednesday.
These operations took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan; of these, the most—4,902—were carried out in Balochistan, followed by 2,701 in KP and 142 in Sindh, according to the sources.
181 militants were killed in total during these operations; 128 of them were neutralized in KP, while 51 and 2 were shot dead in Balochistan and Sindh, respectively.
Security forces neutralized 12 terrorists in Balochistan and killed 42 in KP in May alone. In the meantime, both provinces saw the capture of 61 insurgents last month.
When examining anti-terror operations by province, the security forces apprehended two terrorists and killed seven others as they tried to enter Pakistan through the Zhob border with Afghanistan.
In Pishin and Killa Abdullah, five more militants were shot dead and one was captured during an attempt at infiltration.
Along with their handlers, two suicide bombers—among them an Afghan national—were also taken into custody.
Along with weapons and ammunition, the security forces also seized explosives, four suicide vests, and fourteen improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from militants.
Twelve terrorists were shot dead by security forces in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank in KP, while nineteen more were slain in North Waziristan.
