In Muslim regions, pro-Gaza candidates sway the Labour vote.

Many of Labour's previous strongholds have been lost to independent candidates running on pro-Gaza agendas.

One of the biggest surprises of the evening was the loss of Jonathan Ashworth’s shadow ministry in Leicester South, a seat with a majority of almost 22,000 voters.
In seats where more than ten percent of the population identifies as Muslim, the party’s vote is down 11 points on average.
Wes Streeting, the shadow health minister, was one of the people in Ilford North who saw his majority reduced from over 9,000 to 528.
However, Labour was able to wrest Rochdale back from George Galloway.

All things considered, Labour had a wonderful night, winning by a wide margin.
However, the party’s performance was poor in areas with a high percentage of Muslim voters.

Shockat Adam made the statement “this is for Gaza” after winning Leicester South by 979 votes.
Mr. Ashworth has held the seat for 13 years, during which time the Muslim population made up roughly 30% of the electorate.
The Conservatives gained ground in nearby Leicester East thanks to thousands of votes cast for independent candidates, especially former Labour MP Claudia Webbe.
Ms. Webbe has been an outspoken supporter of the Palestinian cause and was kicked out of the party after being found guilty of harassment charges.
With 4,426 fewer votes than Ms. Webbe, the Tories won her previous seat.
