In the first match of their ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 campaign, India defeated Sri Lanka by 59 runs on Tuesday at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
In the rain-shortened match, India dismissed Sri Lanka for 211 in 45.4 overs after the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method changed the goal to 271 in 47 overs.
After choosing to bat, India lost Smriti Mandhana early. Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol attempted to salvage the innings with a 67-run partnership for the second wicket.
Due to Sri Lanka’s spinners’ strict control, boundaries were difficult to maintain, and wickets started to fall.
