In an effort to “transform” the nation’s textile industry and give female workers access to contemporary training, the Punjabi government plans to build a tax-free garment city. Exporters and textile industrialists, meanwhile, are not in favor of the new garment city. Rather, they emphasize the need of enhancing the circumstances in the current industrial zones in various cities, such as Faisalabad.
The provincial government of Punjab, according to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, stated a few days ago that a tax-free garment city would be established. She did not, however, reveal where this project is being located. She announced that women would receive scholarships and free training for six months as part of this program.
She claimed that efforts were being made by her government to eradicate gender inequality.
