Rights group Haalvsh said Tuesday that Iranian border guards killed six Afghan migrants and injured five others when they opened fire on a group of migrants entering Sistan-Baluchestan region.
About 120 Afghan citizens, including women, children, and the elderly, were fired upon during the September 8 incident in the Golshan border sector. Haalvsh claimed that without notice, Iranian forces employed both large and light weaponry, including a heavy machine gun made by the DShK.
The organization reported that five bodies were found at the area and that intense gunfire caused one of the injured to lose a leg. After being admitted to the hospital in Saravan, three of the injured are still in severe condition. According to the NGO, border authorities also detained about 40 other migrants.
