One of the most successful movies in Marvel’s superhero series is Iron Man 3. In a recent podcast, the film’s director, Shane Black, talks candidly about his role.
He describes his experience on The Discourse Podcast as being breathtaking, recalling that the studio gave him some degree of freedom to explore, which he claims was uncommon.
He goes on to say, “That was pretty much a one-off,” adding that the franchise was taking a chance at the time by working with fresh directors.
Shane reveals that he was a perfect fit for the director Marvel was seeking. “They’re very fond of trying directors who hadn’t done a lot, and at the time, I hadn’t.”
As the studio’s most recognizable superhero, he commends the franchise for allowing him creative freedom.
