ISLAMABAD: Major General (retd) Hafeez Ur Rehman was ordered to resign from his position as chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) by the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday.
In his 99-page ruling, Justice Babar Sattar allows for the temporary appointment of the head of the regulatory authority.
In his ruling, Justice Sattar declared that the PTA chairman’s appointment was illegal and suggested that a senior PTA member be temporarily named chairman instead.
The court noted that there was “malafide in law” and “lack of integrity” in the hiring procedure for the position.
