ISLAMABAD: Zarrar Hasham, Federal Secretary of Information Technology and Telecommunication, told the NA panel that it would take four to five weeks to fix underwater internet lines that have been destroyed off the coast of Yemen.
He clarified that multiple cables close to Yemen’s coast had been severed in response to a query at the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology, according to The News.
“Many submarine cables near the coast of Yemen have been cut, while two cables coming to Pakistan have been affected; the restoration of the damaged cables may take four to five weeks” , he stated to the NA committee.
The situation in Yemen is complex, he told MPs, adding that four to five cables in the region had been broken and that two of the impacted lines service Pakistan.
