Ministers are reportedly considering the measures right now, according to The News.
A representative for the Department of Health and Social Care responded to a message regarding the report by saying, “We do not comment on leaks.”
“Smoking kills 80,000 people year, strains the NHS to breaking point, and costs the tax payers billions.
“We are committed to shielding kids and non-smokers from the negative effects of secondhand smoke.
The reports follow Labour’s announcement that it will revive the smoking ban proposed by Rishi Sunak, which was shelved prior to the election.
In July, during the opening of Parliament, the King made a pledge to bring back the law that would gradually raise the legal age of tobacco purchase.
It will never be lawful for a 14-year-old to purchase cigarettes under the proposed smoking ban.
Labour also outlined proposals to restrict the promotion and sales of vapes throughout the speech.
