ISLAMABAD According to security officials, an operational commander of the Indian-backed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the mastermind of the Jaffar Express attack were slain in Afghanistan on Saturday.
According to the sources, the senior leader of the BLA’s Majeed Brigade, Gul Rehman, also known as Ustad Mureed, was slain in the Helmand area of Afghanistan.
Gul Rehman, the mastermind behind this year’s deadly Jaffar attack in Quetta in March, was slain on September 17, according to sources in the Indian media.
In a daylong standoff with security forces in a secluded mountain pass in the Bolan area, the banned BLA destroyed rail tracks and took more than 440 passengers hostage during the attack on the Jaffar Express in the second week of March.
