In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly during the Supergirl trailer preview, DC Studio co-CEO Peter Safran shared insight into Momoa’s enthusiasm for the role. According to Safran, Momoa has been expressing interest in playing Lobo for years.
“He’s been talking about it forever,” Safran revealed. “He mentioned it even while working on Aquaman, saying, ‘I’d rather be doing Lobo.'”
Alongside Momoa, Milly Alcock stars as the lead role of Kara Zor-El, a young superhero navigating her new powers. In the film, Kara encounters a young alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll (played by Eve Ridley), who seeks revenge for the murder of her family.
The movie also introduces a formidable lineup of supporting characters. Matthias Schoenaerts takes on the role of the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, while David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham play Kara’s parents, Zor-El and Alura In-Ze, respectively.
