Jennifer Lawrence recently shared insights about her experience filming the Netflix hit Don’t Look Up, starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, and Jonah Hill. The dark comedy, directed by Adam McKay, follows two astronomers, Dr. Randall Mindy (DiCaprio) and Kate Dibiasky (Lawrence), as they discover a massive comet heading straight for Earth.
While reflecting on her time on set, Lawrence revealed that working with Jonah Hill could be challenging, especially during improvisation scenes. She told Vanity Fair, “It was really, really hard filming with Jonah, and just not ruining take after take by laughing. One day, we even dedicated an entire session to him improving insults at me. It was amazing.”
Despite the challenges, Lawrence praised Hill’s exceptional talent, calling him a “comedic master.” She admitted that although the cast tried to improvise, none could match Hill’s skill. One memorable moment involved Hill’s character improvising the line, “Sit tight and assess,” which wasn’t in the original script. Lawrence said she was in awe of his ability to make spontaneous comedy feel seamless.
Don’t Look Up also features a star-studded cast including Cate Blanchett, Tyler Perry, Timothée Chalamet, and Ariana Grande. The movie premiered on Netflix on December 24, 2021, and quickly gained attention for its satirical take on global crises and human reactions to impending disaster.
