Jessie J is back with new music, and fans believe one track on her upcoming album, “Don’t Tease Me With A Good Time”, targets her ex, actor Channing Tatum.
The singer, who dated Tatum on and off between 2018 and 2020, appears to channel her heartbreak into her latest work. On the song “Threw It Away”, Jessie reflects on a past relationship that left her feeling betrayed.
She sings about the former flame, calling him a “beast” and warning, “I put my heart out on the table, that’s when it got uncomfortable. But oh that karma is gonna come one day, ’cause I gave you my love and you threw it away.” She adds a pointed line, “Don’t you dare rewrite the story. I’m the beauty, you’re the beast.”
During a listening event in West London, Jessie didn’t name Tatum explicitly but hinted at the subject, telling fans the song was written in 2020 with Ryan Tedder. Fans quickly connected the dots.
This album also marks Jessie’s triumphant return following her treatment for breast cancer, which she underwent over the summer. She shared that the experience changed her outlook on life, making her “a better parent” and “a better person,” while fostering meaningful connections with others battling cancer.
With her new music and renewed sense of purpose, Jessie J is stepping back into the spotlight, ready to shine on her own terms.
