The Democratic Party’s 2000 vice presidential nominee, Joe Lieberman, a former senator from Connecticut, died in New York City at the age of eighty-two.
According to his family, Lieberman, who held the position of upper chamber member from 1989 to 2013, passed away due to complications following a fall.

Notably, Lieberman became the first Jewish candidate on a major party ticket in 2000 when he was selected as Al Gore’s running mate.
