DeAndre was 32 years old, according to news representatives for the Jones family.
The 55-year-old Jones Jr. requested privacy so that his family could “process this loss.” Jones Jr. won world titles in the middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight weight classes.
In a statement on X, Jones Jr. said, “I’m so thankful that God allowed me to come home Friday night to spend the last night of his life with me and the family.”
“I know a lot of people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life.”
Jones Jr. lost his most recent fight, a majority decision against Sergio, on April 1, 2023.
