KARACHI: Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Monday that the port city will continue to experience a partial heatwave for the next three days, with temperatures expected to rise above 40°C. Today at around 2 pm, the “feels like” temperature reached 51°C.

“The following three days will see intensely hot and muggy weather persist in Karachi. The sea breeze would be obstructed during the day during this period, causing the heat to intensify,” Sarfaraz told News.

Due to the growing temperature in Karachi, an official from the Met Office has advised the public to take precautions against the heat during the next two to three days. They have also been told to drink more water and juice to stay hydrated.

Right now, the air’s humidity content is 39%.

He continued, saying that Tuesday’s high temperature is probably going to be in the range of 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. The weather will be hot and muggy throughout this time.

Balochistan’s hot winds from the northwest will persist during the day, with the possibility of a return of the sea breeze in the evening. However, a little dip in temperature is anticipated starting on Wednesday, with a probable low of 39°C or 37°C.

This year, the PMD has also predicted heavier-than-normal rains in Karachi and other southern Sindh regions.

He said that the monsoon season might start in the first week of July in Karachi and that it might start in the eastern regions of Sindh on July 2 or 3.
