The Welsh-born musician founded World Party in 1986 and penned the song “She’s The One,” which appeared on the group’s 1997 album Egyptology.
She’s The One was covered by Robbie Williams in 1999 and peaked at number one on the UK singles chart.
Wallinger’s publicist stated that he died on Sunday, March 10, but no cause of death was revealed.
Between 1987 and 2000, the multi-instrumentalist released five albums with World Party, including his breakthrough album Private Revolution, which featured the modest hit Ship Of Fools.
Wallinger was World Party’s only consistent member, and he is reported to have recorded much of the band’s work solo.
