On Monday, people all over Pakistan will observe Kashmir Solidarity Day to show their unwavering support for their fellow Kashmiris in their fight against human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In a press release, the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs stated that all necessary preparations have been made to mark today’s Kashmir Solidarity Day appropriately both at home and abroad.

The ministry reports that walks in solidarity are being held around the nation, including in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Concurrently, a demonstration in support of the Kashmiri people was place on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad.

At nine in the morning, there was also a minute of silence to honor the Kashmiri martyrs.

“Posters and billboards have been displayed around important Avenves, airports, and railway stations to highlight the plight of Kashmiri people,” stated the statement.

In addition, in honor of the day, educational institutions have scheduled essay writing competitions as well as debate and declamation events.

The right to self-determination is a fundamental tenet of international law, according to President Dr. Arif Alvi, but sadly, the Kashmiri people have not been allowed to exercise this unalienable right.

“Every year, the UN General Assembly passes a resolution that clearly supports the realization of the right to self-determination for those who are occupied by foreign powers,” the president stated.

He noted that for the previous 26 years, the people of the IIOJK have struggled to realize their right to self-determination.

IIOJK is one among the world’s most militarized zones today. According to a news statement from President Secretariat news Wing, the president stated that people in Kashmir live in a climate of fear and intimidation.

The president restated that Pakistan’s government and people, on this day commemorating Kashmir Solidarity, are once again fully committed to supporting their rightful and lawful cause.

The president also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support for the people of Kashmir until their right to self-determination is realized, as guaranteed by pertinent UN Security Council resolutions.

The Kashmir Solidarity Day is annually observed on February 5 to express Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s just struggle for the realization of their right to self-determination. According to Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, Pakistan will continue to support Kashmiris.

The statement said that India has waged a ceaseless campaign to intimidate and suppress the people of IIOJK for the past 26 years. It also added that extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, and torture in imprisonment are common examples of India’s iron-fisted tactics in IIOJK.

“India has imprisoned Kashmiri leaders and human rights advocates in addition to silencing the media. Numerous foreign media outlets and human rights organizations have thoroughly documented these excesses. India’s unlawful and unilateral activities in IIOJK on August 5, 2019.

The pertinent resolutions of the UN Security Council as well as the Fourth Geneva Convention,” the PM stated.

According to him, Pakistan has always insisted that the demands of the Kashmiri people and the pertinent UNSC Resolutions must come before any long-term resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir conflict can be reached.

“Pakistan will continue to extend its unstinted moral, diplomatic and political support for this just cause,” stated PM Kakar.

Chiefs of the Army, CJCSC, and services honor Kashmiris
The people of Kashmir have received generous tributes from the Pakistan Armed Forces, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), and chiefs of services.

“Since 1948, Kashmir has remained an unresolved issue on the UN agenda,” a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on the subject claimed.

According to the leaders of the armed forces, the CJCSC, and the services, the matter must be settled to meet the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and to comply with UN Resolutions that guarantee their right to self-determination.

It was seen that the spirit of the Kashmiri people and their rightful freedom movement remained unfazed despite decades of atrocities committed by Indian occupation forces.

“Insha’Allah, the heroic struggle for Azadi is destined to succeed; the night is, indeed, the darkest before dawn,” the ISPR declared.

Today is a day to “renew our firm commitment to continue supporting Kashmiris until their independence and to remind the world of our promise to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” according to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif.

“Permanent peace in South Asia and the rest of the globe cannot be guaranteed in the absence of a resolution to the Kashmir dispute. The world’s society is now stained by the people of Palestine and IIOJK’s violations of their basic human rights. We honor the folks of IIOJK for their unwavering commitment and numerous selfless acts,” Shehbaz stated on X.
