Security forces killed three terrorists, including two ringleaders, Sohail aka Azmato and Haji Gul alias Zarkavi, in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber district, as part of intensifying efforts to eradicate the threat of terrorism in the nation, the military’s media arm said on Thursday.
In response to reports of terrorist activity in the tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the security forces carried out an operation on April 24–25, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Following a fierce gunfight, security personnel shot and killed three terrorists, breaking through their hiding place in the process, the statement continued.
The ISPR added that ammunition and weapons had also been found on the terrorists who had been slain but were still actively engaged in a number of terrorist attacks in the region.
