The seven-time champion seemed to mix up issues about the FIA’s regulations with Christian Horner’s actions as the head of the Red Bull team.
“Things happening behind closed doors, there is no accountability and the fans need that,” Hamilton stated prior to this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.
He continued: “How can you trust the sport and what is happening here if you don’t have that?”
Hamilton commended Susie Wolff, the director of the F1 Academy, for suing the FIA after that organization’s contentious conflict of interest investigation into her last year.
The day Wolff unveiled her lawsuit—which is purported to be a defamation case against several high-ranking FIA officials—the organization’s ethics committee also cleared its president of charges that he had meddled in races in Las Vegas and Saudi Arabia the previous year. When asked if he still trusted Mohammed Ben Sulayem as president of the FIA, Hamilton replied, “(He) never has.” The Mercedes driver continued, saying, “Susie has my undying pride. She is such a leader, such a brave person, and she upholds such high standards.
