Lt. Gen. Munir Afsar, the Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), has been reinstated by the Lahore High Court (LHC), overturning an earlier ruling that had nullified his appointment.
The decision was rendered by a two-member bench led by Justice Chaudhary Muhammad Iqbal during the hearing of an intra-court petition contesting the dismissal of the NADRA chairman.
The main focus of the case was the appeal, which was filed in opposition to the caretaker government’s announcement of the chairman’s nomination.
The court inquired as to whether particular notification had been contested in the petition during the proceedings.
The public advocate made it clear that the application was limited to the notice given by the interim administration and that it did not challenge any new regulations pertaining to these appointments.
