RAWALPINDI: The News said on Wednesday that Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was interrogated by a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) at the Adiala jail regarding events connected to the May 9 riots.
Under the direction of Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Usman, the eight-member JIT questioned Qureshi for almost 2.5 hours over his suspected role in the violence from the previous year. They asked him written questions.
This comes days after PTI founder Imran Khan and Qureshi, who is detained in the Adiala prison, were declared not guilty in two charges involving vandalism related to the long march.
On Monday, Judicial Magistrate Ehtesham Alam granted the acquittal in opposition to the applications submitted by Qureshi and Khan.
