Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has revealed additional information about what happened on May 9, 2023, calling it a “full coup” directed by Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed, the former head of Inter-Services Intelligence.

During an interview with Samaa TV’s “Red Line with Talat,” Asif clarified that former Peshawar corps commander Faiz Hameed provided the May 9, 2023 targets and was instrumental in shielding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan from the no-confidence motion that ultimately resulted in his resignation.

The minister of defense claimed that Faiz Hameed had specific goals during the purported coup attempt and that his actions were crucial in attempting to protect the PTI leader during his fall from power.
