McCormick Questions Investigation Into Butler Shooting
Pennsylvania Senator David McCormick says he remains “not satisfied” with the answers about the 2024 assassination attempt on President Donald Trump at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally.
McCormick witnessed the attack firsthand and criticized the investigation into the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
“I’m not satisfied,” McCormick told Pod Force One with Miranda Devine. He recalled Trump joking that he had delayed his stage entrance, which may have saved McCormick’s life.
Security Concerns Raise Doubts
McCormick questioned how a lone gunman could get so close—less than 150 yards—without being stopped. He also highlighted that Crooks’ social media accounts, initially reported missing, later surfaced.
“Even if investigators have answers, leaving issues unresolved erodes public trust,” McCormick said.
Devine noted that the family of volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore, killed during the attack, also feels the investigation has left questions unanswered.
Trump Family Voices Frustration
Eric Trump, the former president’s son, expressed similar frustration in November. “We know nothing. I’m wholly p—ed off about it,” he said about the Butler attack.
The July 13, 2024 shooting wounded Trump with a gunshot to the ear, killed Comperatore, and injured two others. McCormick stressed that these gaps raise concerns about security protocols and transparency.
