Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town, is no longer a candidate to manage Chelsea.
The 38-year-old was first considered for the position of Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement after the latter left the team by mutual consent last week.
Enzo Maresca of Leicester, Thomas Frank of Brentford, and former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi are the front-runners still in contention.
If the FA Cup winners fire Erik ten Hag, former Manchester United assistant manager McKenna—who guided Ipswich to promotion from the Championship—is still being linked to a return to Old Trafford, along with managerless Brighton.
McKenna is anticipated to accept a fresh contract offer from Ipswich in an attempt to hang onto him, even if he is not likely to extend his current one.
He has an agreement with Ipswich through 2027.
McKenna is no longer a candidate for the Chelsea position.
