Despite Tayyab Tahir’s undefeated half-century (57 not out, 43b, 6x4s, 1×6), Shaheens failed to reach the 176-run mark, finishing with 128-9 in 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan, the opening batsman, scored 26 runs off of 13 balls while hitting two fours and two sixes.
The Shaheens’ batting lineup broke down after Haseebullah (11, 20b, 1×6) left the game in the seventh over, with the scorecard reading 44-2. They lost seven wickets at a cost of just 47 runs. An unbeaten 37-run partnership was made by Tayyab and Arif Yaqoob for the final wicket.
Earlier, the opening duo of Ashley Chandrasinghe and Liam Blackford of the Melbourne Stars put up a 91-run partnership off 74 balls, giving the team a great start after choosing to bat first. For his 43-ball 55, Blackford hit seven fours, while his partner, Chandrasinghe, contributed 47 off 42 balls which involved four boundaries and two sixes.
