According to the Met Office, some counties in southern and central England have already received more than 250% of their September average, while other parts of the nation experienced more rainfall than the monthly average on Monday.
There are now two new yellow warnings in effect for today, indicating that more heavy rain is expected to result in some transport delays and floods. One covers north Wales and northwest England until 8 p.m., and another covers eastern England from 8 a.m. today until 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
Both predict broadly between 20 and 40 millimeters of rainfall, with some locations in North Wales and northwest England perhaps seeing up to 60 millimeters.
Forecaster Liam Eslick of the Met Office said that he anticipates “pretty heavy persistent rain” across northwest England and North Wales.
Eastern England’s higher terrain will receive the most precipitation. In regions like Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, where recent heavy precipitation has already surpassed them, less rain is anticipated.
