Ahead of the release of the highly anticipated Beetlejuice 2 sequel, Michael Keaton is discussing the gender of his beloved character Beetlejuice.
In the Tim Burton-directed film Beetlejuice from 1988, Keaton made his debut as the character.
Despite receiving just 17 minutes of screen time in the first film, the Oscar-nominated actor desired to have less in the sequel.
He explained to GQ, “The idea was, no, no, no, you can’t load it up with Beetlejuice, that’ll kill it.”
The Beetlejuice persona, in my opinion, doesn’t propel the plot as much as he did in the first film, he clarified. In contrast to the previous, where something enters and somewhat drives the film, he has a larger role in the plot in this one.
