ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Barrister Aqeel Malik, the Minister of State for Law and Justice, questioned if the decision to replace Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was lawful.
Earlier in the day, the KP chief minister announced his resignation and gave Sohail Afridi, the PTI’s nominee, his complete support.
“As directed by our party founder [Imran Khan], I am leaving my position as chief minister,” Gandapur posted on Facebook.
Malik questioned if “a convicted person,” alluding to the PTI founder, has the power to order the removal of a province chief executive while appearing on News’ “Capital Talk” show.
