According to recent findings by a special team of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), mobile applications were employed in the illicit exchange of stolen data in addition to websites.
The NCCIA team found that other apps had also been used to sell data during its continuing probe. Sources claim that the team has started examining the mobile apps and websites used in the activity. Determining whether the data was stolen prior to or following 2023 is part of the investigation’s scope.
Authorities have made the decision to detain anyone who sell data on these platforms. The apps and websites mentioned in the trade will be shut down forever. Those proven to be in fault will face legal action under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
