Following his appointment as the 50th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili Muslims in February of this year, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V has begun his first official trip to East Africa, traveling to Kenya from August 25 to 27 at President William Ruto’s request.
Aga Khan V, who was welcomed by President Ruto, spoke about the Ismaili Imamat’s longstanding cordial relationship with Kenya as well as the goals of their future collaboration.
In addition to reaffirming the long-standing and strong partnership between the Ismaili Imamat and the Kenyan government, the two dignitaries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on general cooperation to strengthen collaboration on topics like cultural heritage, urban rehabilitation, environmental conservation, and climate change.
