Legislators expressed alarm, but Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani reassured them that anyone caused damage to recently built or renovated roads and streets throughout the city will face consequences. He went on to say that review reports on this subject had been requested from consultants for a number of major projects.
The LG minister responded to separate call attention notices from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-backed Sunni Ittehad Council’s Muhammad Shabbir and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) lawmaker Muhammad Aamir Siddiqui. He said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) under the Competitive and Livable City of Karachi (Click) project had either built or restored 400 roads and streets in the city.
“Approximately fifteen of these roads have been damaged by the recent rains,” he said, promising lawmakers that the province government would look into it.
