Regarding the government’s intra-court appeal concerning the nullification of revisions to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) statute, the Supreme Court has issued a comprehensive 16-page written ruling.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa wrote the order, which reinstates the NAB changes and overturns the prior decision made by a two-member bench.
In its analysis of the NAB law’s past, the ruling notes that General Pervez Musharraf, the former head of the army, passed the law barely 34 days after taking over the country by force. The court emphasized how Musharraf disregarded the democratic constitution and exploited the legal system to further his own political goals.
According to the ruling, Musharraf dismissed Supreme Court justices who disagreed with his unlawful acts.
