UK Marmalade May Be Renamed Under New Post Brexit Food Rules Key Subheading: EU Food Deal Could Change Marmalade Labelling in the UK The UK government is considering changes to marmalade labelling as part of a new food agreement with the EU. If the deal is approved, jars of the traditional spread may need to be labelled as “citrus marmalade” in shops across the UK. This update is linked to changes in EU food laws aimed at improving trade and reducing barriers for exporters. While the product itself will stay the same, the naming rules could shift to match international standards. Why the Name Marmalade Is Changing Under current UK rules, marmalade refers only to spreads made from citrus fruits like oranges. This definition dates back to regulations adopted before Brexit. Other fruit spreads are usually called jam. The EU is now expanding its definition. From June, non citrus fruit spreads can also be marketed as marmalade across Europe. However, citrus based versions will need to be labelled more clearly as “citrus marmalade”. This change follows long standing debates across Europe, where the word marmalade has been used differently in languages such as German, Spanish, and Italian. Impact on UK Consumers and Businesses The UK government says the product itself will not change. Shoppers will still find the same marmalade in stores. The difference will be in how it is labelled. Officials say the updated rules could help British producers export more easily by reducing red tape. The aim is to align with global standards and improve trade with EU markets. However, some concerns remain. Earlier assessments suggested that new naming rules could confuse consumers in the UK. It is still unclear whether products like “strawberry marmalade” will be allowed in British supermarkets. When Will the Changes Happen The timeline is not fixed yet. The changes may come into effect around 2027 if the wider EU food deal is agreed. It is also unclear whether the rules will apply before or after that date. What This Means for the Future This update reflects ongoing efforts to align UK food regulations with international systems. While it may seem like a small change, it highlights how trade agreements can influence everyday products and their labels.

New York Cannabis Industry Still Struggles, Despite Growing Awareness Cannabis is everywhere in New York City five years after its legalization. The industry appears to be thriving, from corner shops and stylish dispensaries. Behind this visible growth, however, there are serious problems for many businesses. Cannabis is everywhere, but not always legal The cannabis culture is evident throughout the city. Outside small shops, bright ads promote the products. Both tourists and locals are attracted to high-end dispensaries. The strong smell of marijuana can be detected in public places. This widespread legality isn't the whole story. Unlicensed dealers, also known as "weed bodegas", continue to exist. The shops that sell these products are not regulated, which raises concerns over quality and safety. The Public's Concerns are Growing The public opinion is beginning to change. Users of social media frequently critique the legalization process. Some people believe that the legalization process has allowed illegal vendors to expand too rapidly. The New York Times and other major publications have expressed concern. Recent editorials argued marijuana could be doing more harm than anticipated. The editorial also called for tighter regulations and improved enforcement. The Legal Business Sector is facing tough competition Cannabis businesses licensed to sell cannabis say that illegal dealers are harming their business. Unregulated stores often sell cheaper goods. Legal retailers are forced to struggle against these unregulated shops. Leaders in the industry explain that the high number of illegal sellers is what makes the market look successful. Many approved businesses struggle to stay afloat. The slow issuance of licenses is another major problem. The early delays led to growers having products but not legal outlets in which they could sell them. Illegal sellers quickly filled the gap created by this. The Legal Aspects Increase Pressure The laws governing cannabis in the United States are complex. Federal law continues to ban recreational marijuana use even though states such as New York allow it. It creates confusion in the business world, particularly when it comes to banking and taxes. Many companies are faced with higher costs due to these legal obstacles and receive limited financial assistance. Authorities Begin Crackdown Now, state officials are taking steps. The authorities are closing down illegal shops and tightening up enforcement. The police can close down illegal shops immediately. Gleichzeitig, more businesses with licenses are being opened. It could be a way to meet the demand for goods and services, while reducing reliance on grey markets. A Market Still Finding Its Balance New York’s cannabis industry continues to evolve. The system has been adjusting to a slower and more uneven start, even though the demand is still strong. In the coming years, it will be determined whether or not legal businesses are able to succeed.

Philippines Transport Workers Strike Over Rising Fuel Prices Transport workers from Manila are on strike to protest the rising fuel costs. Since the Iran War began on February 28, diesel and petrol prices have doubled, putting the Philippines in a state of national energy crisis. The Drivers are Hard Hit The driver, 62 years old, shared with us that he had no money to feed his children. Many drivers struggle to cover their daily costs and pay for rent. Some drivers were promised 5,000 pesos (83 dollars) by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Many, such as Guillermo Japole, 62, and Anjo Lilac (28), said that they had never received aid. Some jeepney operators are returning home to find other jobs. The Strike coincides with the New Oil Shipment A ship carrying more than 700,000 barrels Russian crude arrived in the country to start the two-day protest. Sara Sky is a vessel flying the flag of Sierra Leone, and it's part of government efforts to find new sources for oil. The President Ferdinand Marcos pledged that he would reduce the country's dependence on the oil flowing through the Strait of Hormuz. This is the source of 98% of its fuel. Worker's Demands The transport coalitions that are leading the protest have made a list of major demands. The coalitions want to scrap fuel taxes, reduce oil prices, and reverse deregulation. Others are calling for wage and fare hikes. Drivers of Jeepneys, motorcycles, and cars that offer ride-sharing services participated in the protests throughout the capital. The protesters held signs calling on the government to take action and offer more assistance. Impact on Commuters Manila, Asia's busiest urban center, has been affected by the strike. Arnold Irinco (52), waited for 30 minutes to get a government-sponsored ride. He understood the drivers' strike despite his inconvenience. Cash aid is not as helpful to drivers who say that direct actions such as reducing the cost of food, water, electricity and fuel would be better than cash assistance. One veteran jeepney operator explained: "We are choked. Our families are struggling to survive. "Cutting prices is the best solution to this problem."

World Cup 2026 final ticket prices hit record high of $11,000 Ticket Prices Surge in First Open Sale Prices for FIFA World Cup tickets 2026 have risen dramatically. Final match tickets can reach as much as $10,990. The standard football ticket is the most expensive ever. Early projections painted a different picture. The official bid from the United States, Canada and Mexico was expecting the final price to be approximately $1,550. This estimate is now far exceeded. The prices continue to climb The price of tickets has steadily increased with each stage. The official fans were able to purchase premium tickets in December for $8,680. Prices increased even more during the last phase of sales. The jump in price is substantial compared to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, when the highest priced final ticket was $1 604 (approximately). The sharp increase in ticket prices has caused concern amongst fans. The cost of dynamic pricing is higher Dynamic pricing is a key reason for the rise. The system automatically adjusts the ticket price based on market demand. Prices increase as interest increases. Fans saw price increases for high-demand games such as finals and knockout matches. The frustration of many buyers was increased by the fact that they were unaware in advance of any changes to ticket prices or availability. Prices of current tickets Based on data available from the ticketing system: Tickets in Category 1 are priced at $10,990 The Category 2 price rose by 33% from $5 575 to $7 380 The Category 3 price increased from $4,185 up to $5,785 (38%). The price increases are a good indicator of how rapidly prices change during the sales phases. The resale market reaches extreme levels The prices on the official platform for resale are higher. Some sellers list final tickets for extreme prices. One seller offered a single final ticket for $82,780. The growing difference between the official price and the resale market is evident. Fans react to rising costs Early ticket releases featured a small number of seats priced at $60, giving hope to fans on a budget. The latest price trend, however, has been criticized. Fans feel excluded from the event, particularly for matches of high profile. It is also difficult to plan in advance due to the lack of pricing information.

Alleged Bondi Gunman's Court Bid Rejected Sydney's High Court has denied Naveed Akram's request to protect the identity of his family. The court's decision allowed the identities of his brother, sister, mother and father to be revealed despite previous protections. Akram faces 59 charges in connection with a December attack on a Jewish Festival at Bondi Beach, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people. The legal team of Akram argued that disclosing the identities of his family could expose them to vigilantes. The Court considers public interest and online exposure The family details were initially suppressed by the court. Several media outlets challenged the order, and it was eventually lifted. He stated that this case had attracted a lot of public attention and was gaining global recognition. The judge also pointed out that much information on the family was already online and would reduce the effect of any suppression orders. The judge ruled that the 40-year suppression request did not comply with the legal standards for this protection. Families raise safety concerns The legal team of Akram said that the family was already facing harassment and threats. According to reports, people drove past the family's home shouting abuse and making death threats. Members of the family also reported receiving threatening calls and messages. Akram's mom expressed her fear for the safety of herself and her children. She said that she lives in constant terror. Court's view on the Suppression request He acknowledged that the judge's concerns were valid, but said the suppression of information would only have a limited effect. The judge pointed out that the order wouldn't apply to platforms outside Australia, or globally. Akram's driving licence, for example, was already available online. It was also less effective to try and restrict information in Australia. It was also noted that Akram's brothers and sisters were not relevant in the matter. Media Opposition against Suppression The media organisations were against the order. The media organisations argued the information had already been widely circulated and there were no immediate threats. The public interest of the case was deemed to be greater than the privacy request.

What is the mark of a real action legend? Some actors rely on daring stunts. Some actors build their reputation on physical strength. Chow Yun Fat chose a completely different route. He created a humane, emotional and realistic feel to the action.

Creative Partnerships That WorkThe Style that Changed Global Action FilmsAction is Not EnoughAction Cinema’s Emotional core

Chow was a unique character. While Tom Cruise pushed the limits of stuntwork, while Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were icons who built their reputations on strength, Chow had a very different story. Chow showed how an action star could be both strong and vulnerable.

Creative Partnerships That Work

Chow Yun-Fat’s most famous work was created in collaboration with John Woo. Together they made films that forever changed the genre of action.

Chow’s performances are distinct. Chow played a gangster as well as a cop who was determined and an assassin with conflicted motives. All these characters had one common trait. Strength and emotional depth were balanced.

The Style that Changed Global Action Films

It was more than just entertainment. This style influenced film makers around the world. Woo’s style inspired directors like Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino and others. This influence is also evident in films like The Matrix or Spider-Man.

Action is Not Enough

Chow Yun Fat never relied on his physical abilities alone. Chow Yun-Fat, unlike stars such as Jet Li or Jackie Chan, focused on his performance range.

In one scene, he can appear tough. The next time he may be deeply emotional. He can even be funny at times. He has a wider range than many other action stars.

Action Cinema’s Emotional core

Chow’s character often feels worn out, but hopeful. The characters are often in pain, but they still maintain love and loyalty. His performances are unforgettable because of the emotional depth.

He plays people, not invincible superheroes. This choice redefined what action film audiences expected.

Next Article India faces rising water and beverage costs amid extreme heat and global crisis India will experience a hot summer with temperatures that are expected to exceed 45degC across several regions. The tensions in the world over Iran put pressure on India's supply chain. The combination of these factors is causing concern about the rising price of beverages and bottled waters across Canada. As access to clean water remains limited, the demand for bottled water is on the rise. In many areas of India, access to clean drinking water is still a problem. Many people depend on bottled drinking water because of this. According to recent data, around 15% of urban and rural households rely on bottled drinking water. This dependence increases in hotter months, when there are more water shortages or contamination. But bottled water may not be affordable to everyone. The financial burden is felt more by rural communities. The rising oil price pushes up packaging costs Crude oil prices are the main cause of the increase in price. Fuel prices around the world have increased due to shipping route disruptions, particularly in and around Strait of Hormuz. About 20% of world oil and gas is transported through this route. Prices have risen due to limited access. This has affected countries like India that rely on imported oil. PET plastic is made primarily from crude oil. The plastic used in the production of bottles for soft drinks, water and other items. PET shortage impacts production across industries PET preforms have become scarce for manufacturers. They are used in the production of bottles. Costs of materials have risen dramatically. The price of these materials has risen from 115 to 180 rupees. The price increase has caused a disruption in production and forced about 20 percent of Maharashtra's bottle-making plants to temporarily shut down. PET packaging is used in many industries, not just bottled water. Food delivery, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and beauty products are all industries that rely on PET packaging. Brands begin to increase prices Bisleri, one of the leading brands in bottled waters, has already increased its prices. A 12-pack of one-liter water bottles now costs around 11 percent more. Bailley Premium Water and Clear Premium Water are also following the trend. Many companies have covered a portion of the costs to protect their customers. Experts warn that this approach will not last. Customers may soon feel the impact Prices for bottles are mostly unchanged at the moment. One-liter bottles still cost around 20 rupees while five-liter bottles sell for 60-70 rupees. This could change in the near future. Companies may increase prices to customers as demand increases during peak summer months, such as April and May. Experts in the industry believe that, as global conditions worsen, it is possible for bottled water to become prohibitively expensive. Growing Market Facing Uncertain Future In 2024, the PET packaging market in India was estimated at $1.5 Billion. By 2033, it is predicted to grow to $2.2 billion. The current crisis shows how the global supply chain is crucial to the growth of the sector. A disruption in supply chains can have a rapid impact on production, prices, and availability. French Ship crosses Strait of Hormuz Despite Ongoing Tensions After weeks of conflict, a French container ship successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz. This vessel was operated by the French shipping company CMA CGM, and registered in Malta. It completed its voyage as global shipping lanes begin to move cautiously again. Media reports confirmed that the company had made the trip, and analysts pointed out that this was the first large Western ship to cross since tensions escalated. Waterway Restricted, but not Fully Closed Recent conflict in the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted oil and gas traffic. Many operators have had to stop or delay their movement in the region because of attacks on several ships. Shipping activity has dropped dramatically, despite Iran's declaration that all vessels are welcome to pass. Many ships avoided sailing along the central route, and instead chose to sail closer to Oman’s coast to minimize risk. Transit of Other Ships A Japanese vessel carrying natural gas, along with the French ship, also safely exited this strait. The operator of the ship confirmed that crew members and cargo were safe. The operator confirms that the limited movement of maritime cargo is still taking place, under strict safety measures. Sharp Drop in Shipping Traffic Before the war, the Strait of Hormuz was regularly used by hundreds of vessels. Reports suggest traffic is down 95 percent. In late March only 100 ships managed to pass, which is an average of five or six vessels per day. Around 200 ships were stranded on nearby waterways earlier in the crisis due to a halt of operations. Global trade has been severely affected by the slowdown. Global Economic Impact Strait of Hormuz is a major route for transporting liquefied gas and oil. This route is critical to the global energy market. Oil prices soared as shipping declined. The rise in oil prices has led to a global increase in fuel costs and concerns over inflation. This situation threatens to increase the price of basic goods like food, medicine, and electronic devices.

Mother seeks justice after baby's ashes mix-up Disturbing Discovery and Legal Action Jasmine Beverley has come forward to speak out about a horrifying case that involved a Hull funeral director. Robert Bush, of Legacy Independent Funeral Directors, handled the funeral arrangements for her stillborn son Sunny Beverley Conlin. She discovered, years after her funeral in 2022 that the ashes given to her did not come from the baby. The police confirmed later that Sunny's remains, as well as many others' bodies and ashes, had been discovered at the premises of the funeral home. This situation raises serious questions about the way in which this business was run. Funeral director admits charges Robert Bush (48) has confessed to multiple crimes in court. These included preventing the lawful burial of 30 people and stealing from multiple charities. He admitted to fraud charges including deceiving families and operating the business dishonestly. The authorities revealed that the man had given incorrect ashes while he kept bodies on his property for long periods. After a concern was raised, authorities began an investigation that led to the discovery of more than a dozen bodies. Family Pain and its Emotional Impact Jasmine first became suspicious after receiving her son's cremated remains in the box that she provided. Small details confirmed her fears. She was later informed by police that the ashes received were not hers. She called the event traumatic. The shock and anxiety caused by the discovery lasted through her second pregnancy. The uncertainty and emotional impact on her affected both her peace of mind and health. Changes in the Law Jasmine has been campaigning for change in law after the case. Jasmine believes that stronger protections must be in place to guarantee families' trust and ensure remains are treated with respect. Her personal goal was to make her son's legacy meaningful. She hopes that by speaking out, other families may be able to relate. Instances of Legal Action Bush will be sentenced on 67 counts, which include fraud and running a business dishonestly. This case highlights serious oversight gaps within the funeral business.
