The FBI has shared surveillance images and videos of a potential suspect in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of “TODAY” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie. The footage shows a masked individual tampering with the front door camera at Guthrie’s Arizona home.
Details from Surveillance Footage
FBI Director Kash Patel posted six black-and-white photos and three short videos on X. The suspect is seen wearing gloves, a mask, sneakers, and carrying a backpack. At least one video shows a holstered firearm.
The images reveal the suspect appearing to cover the door camera with a gloved hand and part of a plant. In one clip, the person lowers their head while moving through the home’s front archway.
Official Statements and Investigation
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the case, confirmed the FBI’s release but said no briefings are currently planned. Nest, the smart doorbell brand owned by Google, is the device seen in the footage.
Savannah Guthrie shared one of the photos on Instagram, asking the public for help. She wrote, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home. Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department 520-351-4900.”
Federal Attention
President Donald Trump has reviewed the surveillance imagery, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who encouraged anyone with information to contact the FBI. Patel, appointed by Trump to lead the FBI, visited the Tucson command center earlier this week.
Background on Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance
Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on February 1 after not attending virtual church services. She was last seen the night before at her daughter Annie Guthrie’s home. Authorities have been searching extensively, with federal and local agencies involved.
Reports indicate a ransom note was received, though law enforcement has not confirmed its authenticity. Savannah Guthrie has posted online asking the public to help find her mother.
Health Concerns
Sheriff Chris Nanos noted that Nancy Guthrie is sharp but has limited mobility and requires daily medication. She also has a pacemaker, which disconnected from its monitoring app on February 1. Authorities are unsure if her medication remains at home.
