On Monday, weeks after Taliban authorities started cutting fiber optic connections in many areas to stop “vice,” a massive communications blackout struck Afghanistan.
“There is currently a nationwide telecom blackout,” stated Netblocks, a monitoring group that keeps an eye on internet governance and cybersecurity.
“We’re now observing national connectivity at 14% of ordinary levels.”
The occurrence “appears consistent with the intentional disconnection of service,” according to the watchdog.
