The Quarterly Tariff Adjustments (QTAs) are projected to result in a large increase in electricity prices in the upcoming months, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) announced on Thursday, despite a 20% decline in overall electricity use.
Concerns over the decline in electricity usage were voiced by Nepra, the CPPA-G, and industrial representatives during a public hearing on a negative adjustment of 58 paisa per unit for August 2024. The negative adjustment of 37 paisa from July 2024 will be compensated in September 2024, therefore the net effect of this adjustment will be 20 paisa per unit.
