Praise Olatoke made the decision to switch from the running track to the American football field faster than a 100-meter dash when the chance presented itself because he had previously followed an unusual path in life.

The 23-year-old is in the last few weeks of the NFL’s International Player Pathway, which offers 16 players from across the globe—some of whom may have never touched a football—the chance to compete on the biggest platform of their sport.

Some would be intimidated by giving up their lucrative athletic profession to pursue a new, famously brutal, discipline, such as wide receiver instead of sprinter.
