In order to ensure that victims of motorway accidents receive timely treatment, the National Highway Authority has proposed to develop a helicopter rescue service that would offer immediate medical assistance to those injured.
The 1122 emergency helpline would continue to operate in tandem with this new service.
The NHA has also been instructed by the minister in charge of these changes to implement both immediate and long-term plans to improve road safety.
Furthermore, the necessity of openness in the use of public funds has been emphasized, and a comprehensive five-year action plan to improve the nation’s roadways and motorways has been called for.
