Nick Grimshaw, a presenter, was “upset” by the experience and rented one of the vacation homes that the gang targeted earlier this summer.
The Guardia Civil has now detained two men and one woman in connection with at least 22 home invasions on the Spanish island, with an estimated total worth of stolen property exceeding half a million euros.
The radio DJ, who was celebrating his 40th birthday, had hired the opulent villa and was joined by his 81-year-old mother Eileen and his fiancé, Meshach Henry, a model and dancer.
While Grimshaw and the other guests slept, the group of robbers targeted the villa during the night.
His vacation property had been on the target list “simply because it being known for being used by high-net-worth clients,” an insider told The Sun, the publication that broke the story initially.
It was “a case of the wrong place at the wrong time,” they claimed, adding that “but it’s scary to say the least” and that it was unlikely that the gang would have known who Grimshaw was.
