Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the subject of non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Warrants were issued by the Islamabad ATC for non-appearance. Ali Amin Gandapur begged not to attend the case hearing.
Proceedings in the cases filed against Amir Mughal, the chief minister of Gandapur, and other PTI leaders—including those who left the party following the events of May 9, 2023—were presided over by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra.
Present in court were Ali Nawaz Awan, Wasif Qayyum, Amir Kiani, and other individuals. CM Gandapur and Mughal submitted pleas requesting exemption from personal attendance, stating that they were “out of the city.” Since April, Gandapur has not attended the proceedings.
The judge declared the plea’s justification to be invalid and ordered the accused to show up in person for every hearing. The defense attorney promised the Court that Gandapur will be present at the upcoming hearing and asked the court to grant him another chance.
The arrest warrants for the 25 PTI leaders, including Ali Amin Gandapur, Murad Saeed, Hammad Azhar, Mian Aslam Iqbal, and Ijaz Minhas, were also issued by the ATC Faisalabad court.
The court directed JIT to detain and produce the twenty-five accused parties in the May 9 cases.
