Comedians like Anesti Danelis are increasingly experimenting with technology to generate ideas and compose scripts. The Canadian hired well-known AI chatbot ChatGPT to write him a performance earlier this year.
What he has been doing all summer long, including this month’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, is the result.

He claims that the application was helpful for brainstorming, despite some offensive jokes.
“I asked it to create me five songs on being an immigrant child or about bisexual issues,” and it came up with concepts I never would have considered.”
The ability of AI to create shows was something he wasn’t prepared for.
“I instructed it to create a running order for me, and it did it with great logic, explaining where each song should go and why. The clarity with which the reasoning was presented surprised me.
