After working with Djokovic with veteran coach Marian Vajda since 2018, former Wimbledon champion Ivanisevic took over as Djokovic’s primary coach in March 2022.
Under Ivanisevic, Serb Djokovic claimed four of his 24 Grand Slam victories, a joint record.
On Instagram, Djokovic posted, “Goran and I decided to stop working together a few days ago.”
“Our on-court chemistry had its ups and downs, but our friendship was always rock solid.”
Djokovic was beaten by world number 123 Luka Nardi in the third round of the Indian Wells Open this month; his loss in the Australian Open semifinals in January; and his withdrawal from the upcoming Miami Open due to a need to balance his “private and professional schedule” were all reported.
“I can still clearly recall the day I extended an invitation to Goran to join my team. Marian and I were hoping to experiment and add some serve magic to our tandem back in 2018,” Djokovic recalled.
