The Joint Action Committee of the National Press Club (NPC) presented a charter of demands to the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday in response to the recent destruction, violence against journalists, and police attack at the club’s Islamabad location.
The problem started last Thursday when the Awami Action Committee organized a protest and the Islamabad police raided the NPC.
Journalists who started taking pictures and films of the events were violently attacked by police officers. Images showed police officers stealing the cameras and cell phones of journalists.
According to the NPC’s statement, the charter of demands calls for making sure that press clubs nationwide are secure in light of the recent occurrence.
